Miles Away From Home and Upward Bound

What a freeing rush...just crashing in The Lair. Today was amazing.

Greeted my parents as they returned from their Nashville roadtrip, celebrating my Grandmother's retirement as the Bishop of the AME church.

Made some fish and grits.
Chopped it up with Jeffrie St. James.
Hit the road with Spen of the hot poetry duo, Guilty Penmanship.

She invited me to join her in presenting some inspiration to the youth of the Upward Bound program in Birmingham, AL.

The lineup consisted of the young people in the program spilling their guts of rap and poetry.
These were very talented and impressive children.

Caught a few minutes of local superstars and members of the UB program, The Ninjas.

Onstage, there was a beautiful connection with the audience.

Having never heard this music before, we were all singing together by the last verse and hook of Your Truck.

The evening spent giving hugs, music and taking pictures with the newest inductees into our musical family was one we will all remember for a lifetime.

Upward Bound Birmingham, we love you.

We thank you for letting us express ourselves with you.

Special thanks to Dr. Ellis and Miles College Staff for treating us to such a fine time in B-ham.

Take care until we see you again.

Live Live Love,
-nef
